International Conference of Local Authorities in Solidarity with the Palestinian People:
Local Authorities at the Heart of the State of Palestine
Dear,
So far 2014 has been a highly significant year for Palestine and the Palestinian people who
have suffered the devastating impacts of fundamental injustices, witnessed by the world,
particularly in Gaza. 2014 is also the UN International Year of Solidarity with the Palestinian
People (IYSPP).
The organizing committee for IYSPP 2014 would like to invite you to participate in the
International Conference of Local Authorities in Solidarity with the Palestinian People:
Local Authorities at the Heart of the State of Palestine. This important event is taking place
between 21-23 November 2014 in Ramallah, Palestine and will be attended by international
political figures, Members of Parliament, Mayors and Local Authorities Representatives.
The conference is being run under the auspices of the UN International Year of Solidarity
with the Palestinian People. The overall aim is the mobilization of global action towards the
achievement of a comprehensive, just and lasting solution for Palestine in accordance with
international law and the relevant resolutions of the United Nations. There will be a particular
focus on the role of Local Authorities in this process, which has been organized by the Events
and Activities Committee of the IYSPP in collaboration with the Ministry of Local Government
and the Association of Palestinian Local Authorities (APLA). The conference will be opened by
the State of Palestine, President Mahmoud Abbas.
